Online shops

Have an online shop built

From understanding the product to a simple checkout and a logical next order. Built in Enschede, easy to manage yourself and tested from the first product click to the confirmation email.

Most online shops I encounter are not broken — they have become slow, cluttered and too similar. That may not cause an outage, but it does cost revenue: visitors leave while the site loads or cannot find the information they need on the product page. The latter often comes down to the imagery: without good product photographythe visitor hesitates, and hesitation does not lead to an order.

I build online shops with WooCommerce or Shopify, depending on what suits you. Not a theme that forces your brand into a mould, but a design that starts with what you sell and who you sell it to. The result: a shop with a clear performance budget, a verifiable SEO foundation and a management environment where you can add products without me.

More than a product grid

Understand, check out and return

The technology is only finished when the customer understands the total cost before payment and receives the right information afterwards.

01

Product understanding

Images, variants, materials, dimensions, stock, delivery and returns information are shown at the point of purchase — including on mobile.

02

Checkout without surprises

Guest checkout where the platform allows it, a visible total price, as few fields as possible and clear payment and shipping options.

03

Measure what happens

Product views, add-to-basket actions, checkout and purchases are set up once your analytics account and consent arrangements are ready.

04

After the order

Transactional email, a review prompt and a suitable repeat-purchase flow are optional; no automated marketing without a valid legal basis.

WooCommerce or Shopify: which is right for you?

No platform always wins. But there is one that suits the way you work. This is how I make that choice.

WooCommerce online shop development

Runs on WordPress, and you retain full ownership of your data and files. No monthly platform fees, but you do need your own hosting.

Right for you if

  • you want to combine plenty of your own content and SEO with sales
  • you have specific requirements that fall outside the standard route
  • you do not want monthly platform fees
  • you already have a WordPress site that runs well

What to look out for

You are responsible for updates and backups. That is perfectly manageable, but it is not ‘set and forget’.

Have a Shopify online shop built

All-in-one: hosting, security and payments are taken care of. You pay a fixed monthly fee and do not have to worry about anything else.

Right for you if

  • you want to get started quickly without managing the technology
  • you expect a high volume of orders and peak periods
  • you also sell through social media or marketplaces
  • several people work in the shop

What to look out for

You rent the platform. That is convenient, but you are tied to its rules and pricing, and switching later takes work.

My short recommendation: selling a manageable product range without needing management? Choose Shopify. Does your visibility depend on content, or do you need something beyond the standard options? Choose WooCommerce. Still unsure — that is exactly what the introductory call is for.

How I work

From first conversation to first order

Four steps. You always know where we are and what is expected of you.

  1. Getting acquainted

We discuss what you sell, who you sell it to and what is currently going wrong or missing. I talk through the platform options with you, so you do not make that choice blindly.

    1 conversation, no obligation

  2. Design

You receive a design for the key screens: home, category, product page and checkout. We refine it until it is right, before a single line of code is written.

    1–2 weeks

  3. Build and populate

I build the shop, set up payments and shipping, and add your products. We can include copy and product photography at this stage if you do not have them yet.

    2–4 weeks

  4. Launch and beyond

We test a real order from start to finish, then the shop goes live. You receive a short explanation of how to manage products yourself — no hefty manual.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about online shops

How much does it cost to have an online shop built?

An online shop from Studio 053 starts at € 1,950 excluding VAT. That includes design, development, payment and shipping setup, and basic SEO. The final price depends mainly on the number of products, whether you need integrations such as accounting, and whether your copy and product photos are ready. After one conversation, I can give you a concrete figure rather than a range.

How long will it take for my online shop to go live?

Allow four to six weeks from the start. The biggest delay is almost never the technology, but supplying product copy and imagery. Already have them? It can go faster. If not, we can include them in the project.

Can I add products and change prices myself?

Yes, that is the starting point. Both WooCommerce and Shopify have an admin area where you can manage products, prices, stock and orders yourself. I deliver the shop with a short explanation, and you no longer need me for day-to-day management.

Can you take over my existing online shop?

Often, yes. I first review what is there: sometimes updating the existing shop is wiser and cheaper than starting again. If your shop runs on an outdated or closed platform, migrating is usually the better investment. Products, customers and order history can generally come with you.

Am I tied into a monthly contract afterwards?

No. You pay the hosting and platform provider directly, not through me, so you are never tied to me. You can outsource maintenance if you want, but it is a choice, not a condition. You own your online shop.
